The team
Q’s team of experts in concept creation, design, photography, and production is strong and diverse. In addition to our 10 employees, we work closely with freelance specialists on a project basis to satisfy the specific needs of our clients. The Q management team:
Thilo von Debschitz, Managing Director of Q
Senior designer; after years of working experience in advertising and design agencies (such as Lintas, Pentagram Design/NYC) he founded Q in 1997; Thilo received several national and international awards for design excellence; member Type Directors Club of New York; former member American Institute for Graphic Arts; lecturer on typography at the University of Applied Sciences, Wiesbaden, faculty communicaton design, and at the Institute of Marketing and Communication (IMK), Wiesbaden; speaker at design conference TYPO (Berlin), Creative Paper Conference (Munich), Oporto (Lisbon), and SenseMaker Dialogs at Pratt Institute (New York City). Book editor and author of publications with creative focus (Fritz Kahn – Man Machine, Verkehrte Welt, Kunstcountdown).
Laurenz Nielbock, Managing Director of Q
Senior designer; certified typesetter (hot type!); after years of working experience in advertising and design agencies (such as Schwarz & Bell, Carbone Smolan/NYC) he founded Q in 1997; Laurenz received several national and international awards for design excellence; lecturer at the Institute of Marketing and Communication (IMK), Wiesbaden; speaker at TYPO Berlin design conference.
Matthias Frey, Q Partner since 2007
Senior designer; long-term experience as Art Director in Sydney and Berlin; Matthias received several national and international awards for design excellence.
Herr Schmiedebach, agency phantom
Mentioned at an awards ceremony in 2011 for the first time (due to the high noise level in the hall, the MC misheard a whispered cue and asked “Herr Schmiedebach”, representing Q, to enter the stage), never seen in our offices, but responsible and indivudually liable for unjustified complaints as well as all call center requests.
