Museum’s campaign nominated for PR award

The campaign Wiesbaden schafft die Wende! (Wiesbaden creates the turn) – commissioned by Museum Wiesbaden and created by Q – has been nominated for the PR Report Awards 2015. It is one of the four best projects within the category “Public Affairs: communication in the public sphere”.

During the attention-grabbing initiative (September–November 2014), Museum Wiesbaden encouraged donations to purchase a painting in its collection that had been identified by the museums’s provenance research department as art stolen by the Nazis. Until the purchase price was raised, only the back of the painting was displayed in the museum and in promotional materials. When the fundraising campaign succeeded, the frame was turned to reveal the front of the painting.

With generous support from Wiesbaden citizens and cultural foundations, the artwork was officially purchased from the heirs of the Jewish owner – turning injustice into justice after more than 70 years.

Among the world-class jury members of the PR Report Awards 2015 – organized by the German journal PR Report – were the public relation directors of Siemens, Deutsche Bahn, Lufthansa, Coca Cola, Deutsche Bank, Rocket Internet, and Sky Deutschland. The awards will be presented to the category winners in Berlin on April 16, 2015.
