A jubilee publication of a somewhat different kind was created for the 100th anniversary of the Volkshochschule (VHS) – the Adult Education Centre – in Wiesbaden: As a lively magazine, the printed work looks back on each decade of the centennial. On 180 pages, it highlights developments at the VHS as well as events in politics or pop culture. Instead of the greetings from dignitaries expected on such occasions, the magazine mainly features people who have shaped and continue to shape the life of the VHS in everyday life – e.g. teachers in the various subject areas or learners for whom attending VHS courses gave important biographical impulses.

In addition, one article explores the question of what popular education might look like in the year 2121. Beside the alternation between different editorial formats, the mix of large-size portrait photos, documentary press photos and illustrations, an unusual headline font as well as the bright neon orange as spot color are details that additionally enhance the print medium and maintain the attention span until the last page.
