SCHNEIDERSÖHNE

Hold on to your luck, and it will stay with you!

For Rives, an uncoated stock from Schneidersöhne (the second largest German paper merchant), Q created publications to raise awareness and connect the brand to designers, the dominant influencers of paper selection.

THE TASK

Schneidersöhne asked Q to develop a single communication tool, targeting designers and advertising agencies. The goal was to make Rives a memorable brand and the first choice for uncoated paper.

THE IDEA

Designers’ Delight provides detailed information on the good fortune of being a graphic designer. Successful creatives – such as illustrator Christoph Niemann – share their luckiest career moments. The blank pages provide space for the lucky reader to make notes or scribbles

THE DESIGN

Since luck can occur in various ways, there is no visual continuity – each spread was designed in an invidual style. The wire-O bound publication features a humorous interplay of type, stories, drawings and useful information about fortune. (The German symbol for “luck”, a pink embossed pig, welcomes the reader on the cover.)

SECOND EDITION

After the successful launch of Designers’ Delight, Q was asked to create a sequel: “Hold on to your luck, and it will stay with you!” That was the motto for Designers’ Daily Delights, a personal diary of fortune for designers, so they can record the most wonderful moments of their creative workaday lives. We also asked international designers about their individual moments of bliss, put them together in this publication, and added our illustrative interpretations, produced with five spot colors.

The international design magazine Novum stated: “A very special diary for creatives … wonderfully designed by Q. Lucky devil who receives this piece of jewelry.”
